The FDA has approved LASIK technology that allows your doctor, for the first time, to measure and address visual problems that could not even be detected before. This procedure, called CustomCornea®, involves a three stage process-Capture, Match and Treat.

CAPTURE

  • First, a wavefront-measuring device sends waves of light into your dilated eye. The light reflects off your retina and enters the device, which captures and measures both lower and higher order aberrations.

  • Next, a 3D wavefront map is generated representing your eye's unique pattern of visual distortions. This map becomes a guide for the laser, telling it where to reshape your cornea to correct your vision.
MATCH

  • Your wavefront data is then electronically transferred to the excimer laser.

  • Next, the tracking device locks on to your eye, ensuring precise alignment of your personalized wavefront map.

  • Your wavefront map is computer-matched to your eye's exact position, enabling your doctor to customize the procedure to your visual requirements.
TREAT

  • The tracking device maintains precise alignment throughout the entire procedure to allow the treatment of both lower and higher order aberrations.

  • Finally, the tracking device guides the small spot laser beam to precisely reshape your cornea. This laser beam is small enough to treat the finest details.
Conclusion

Only the LADARVision® System can capture your unique wavefront map, computer-match this data to your eye's position, and maintain precise alignment throughout the treatment. This process addresses both lower and higher order aberrations, improving both the quantity and the quality of your vision.
